How do I connect my bank with Plaid?

8 steps · Last updated October 2026

Plaid is a secure service that connects your bank to the Prisma Resident Portal. You log in with the same username and password you use for your bank’s website or app. You type these into the Plaid window, not into the Prisma Resident Portal.

Note: Before you begin, have your online banking username and password ready, and keep your phone nearby in case your bank sends you a code. The screens may look different depending on your bank, so follow what your bank and Plaid show you.

  1. Step 1. Open Make Payment

Select Make Payment in the menu on the left.

  2. Step 2. Choose Link Bank Account

Under Payment Type, select Link Bank Account. A Plaid window opens.

  3. Step 3. Enter your phone number, or skip it

Plaid may ask for your phone number. You can type it in and select Continue, or select Continue without a phone number.

  4. Step 4. Find your bank

Type the name of your bank in the search box, then select your bank in the list. If your bank does not appear, check the spelling and try the bank’s full name.

  5. Step 5. Log in to your bank

Follow the steps on the screen to log in with your online banking username and password. Complete any security checks your bank asks for. If your bank sends a code to your phone or email, type it in when asked.

  6. Step 6. Choose the account to connect

Plaid shows the accounts at your bank. Select the one you want to use. Check the account name and the last four digits, then select Continue.

Important: If your account does not appear, your bank or account may not be supported by Plaid. Try another bank account or choose a different payment method.

  7. Step 7. Accept the terms

Read the Terms and Conditions. Select the checkbox, then select Connect account information.

  8. Step 8. Check that the account is linked

You return to the Prisma Resident Portal. Look for a linked Bank Account with the last four digits of your account. This means it is ready to use.

To pay now, enter the amount and finish as shown in How do I pay rent from my bank account?

Important: Linking a bank account does not make a payment by itself. You still need to enter an amount and submit.

If linking does not work, see Why did my Plaid bank connection fail?

That’s it. You’re done.
